I'm using re-furbished compter..firewall will not stay "on" position just as I use internet or docum

Micro Essentals is programmed into computer..Bought this model from Focus Hope..re-furbished..

The fire wall will not stay in the "on" position..I received a virus or back door virus & can't get rid of it..What is the problem to maintain the Firewall staying in the "on" position?
