trying to instal win 7 pro on a second hard drive withwin 8 on first hard drive

i have a pc with win 8 installed on the primary drive. i purchased a win 7 pro os to install on a second drive. ( i bought a new pc after my old win xp  got a little fuzzy) i formatted the second hd as a gpt drive in win 8, and when i go into bios and

make set boot from cd drive as first, even disconnecting primary drive, win 7 will come up, i hit a key, it says it is installing files, the four colors swirl around and stop, and there it sits, and will go no further.  what setings in bios need changed? it

is an acer mother board with amd a6 5400 dual core with 16 gig of ram. can anyone help?ken
