WINDOWS XP SP1 can't update after OEM system "repair"

Greetings, I just performed a OEM CD system repair and having trouble accessing the firewall and istalling updates.  I manually downloaded SP2 and it declined to complete installation at the end.  Some state that I need to bypass SP2 and go straight to

SP3 while  nother previous post suggeeted installing Windows Server 2003 SP1 update prior to SP2 and SP3. If my System is already SP1 XP (sept 2003) do I still need to dl WS2003 SP1 or am I suppose to go straight to SP3? Many thanks for your time. This is

the first time I've had issue.
