after removing mcafee, unable to enable windows defender (urgent)

hello, I have found questions asking about that they cant get windows defender to turn off. Well, I have a different problem. I just recently got a new acer laptop, and, it came with windows 8 64 bit, with mcafee, removed mcafee (not much of a fan of it)

and, I cant boot up WD, I go to start, search "windows defender" and, it comes up with this:

 

 

Windows Defender has been turned off, and, is not monitoring your computer

 

if your using a different app to remove malicious software,  check action center for its status.

 

 

the funny thing is, is that, it says its running in action center (mcafee) but, I removed it, I even checked in add/remove programs AND ccleaner...

 

I do not know what the heck is going on, Any help?
