How to turn "on" Windows Defender?

I bought laptop with Windows 8 and Mcafee pre-installed in it. I uninstalled Mcafee through Control Panel and then i removed Mcafee using their removal/cleanup tool and aslo deleted every file and folder of Mcafee. After doing all that i opened Windows

Defender but it shoed the folloeing message:

"Windows Defender has been turned off and isn't monitoring your computer. If you're using another app to checkfor malicious or unwanted software, use Action Center to check that app's status."

How should i turn it on? Please help me.
