I can't get MaCafee to work in windows 8

Norton was installed when I bought My HP laptop.  Used the removal tool and removed it .  Then installed McAfee,  My real time scanning will not stay on,  and it will not show my network. But shows my router.  McAfee top people have worked on the problem. 

So far no fix.

Has anyone had McAfee problems.
