I have an HP Pavilion running Windows 7 and am getting a BSOD, details below:

After a recent Windows update and subsequent request to reboot, the laptop rebooted with a BSOD.

The error read as “Interrupt_Exception_Not_Handled”

Once I reboot it comes up asking to go to Launch startup Repair which I choose as the option.

Once it goes into startup repair it begins to repair but then I get an error message reading as “The instruction at 0xfb79ca53 referenced memory at 0x62e206cd.

The memory could not be read.”

After this fails in an error, I then go to System Recovery Options and after reading some blogs and forums try to then use system restore to an earlier boot time since this all started after a Windows update.

Now this has created a new error issue, when I ran system restore back to a point before the update it runs the process, but in the end I get the following message:

“System Restore did not complete successfully.  Your computer’s system files and settings were not changed.

Details:

An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0x80070002)”

I have tried multiple starting points and keep getting the same error message.

At this point I am stuck as to what to do next.  It seems by what I am reading that the Windows update may have caused the issue for some reason, but not sure how to fix if I am unable to restore to a point before the update.
