Small Icon Problem

I only have one Icon on my desktop and suddenly it has developed a major "blemish".

 

It looks like this:

 

 

 

It's the well known perfect disk icon. I cant see many icons but those that I do see seem alright. I have added the mode for eliminating arrows on icon and do not know where this is coming from.
