windows 7 issues with new hard drive

hard drive crashed, had vista and upgraded to Windows 7 but did not have  vista disk anymore, do I have to install another version of windows for new version to work?, 7 is running bad and it tells me my version is not authentic, but I bought it at staples.

May be the upgrade version
