win 8 kb2799494 fails

I have Windows 8 Pro installed (not an update, original box version) and Windows Update consistently fails and generates an error on KB2799494 and then the PC locks up and must be powered off to reboot.  Windows Update error help did no good either.  I downloaded

the update and ran it manually as Admin and it just reported "failed"  I ran the Genuine Advantage Diagnostic tool and under Validation status, it reported "validation unsupported OS".

 

I do have Media Center loaded (legally) as well.  I'm using Panda antivirus.  Very little else has been loaded.  What is going on?
