Cannot open Steam

Yesterday, I ran a scan using MSE where it found an Adware virus, but this was not a problem as it went away pretty much instantly.

Since then, when I try to access Steam, I press the icon (desktop, taskbar and start menu). It acknowledges me pressing the icon because the loading icon on the pointer appears. It even is shown as a process under the Task Manager. However, Steam does not open.

How do I repair this??
