add new destination in the SendTo menu

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have added "favorites" in the sendto folder and it is visible in the sendto

folder (start>run>sendto). However when I right click and hover over Sendto

in the options window "favorites" is not one of the options available.

What is wrong?

I am using Office & Windows XP, SP2 & IE7.

If I ask this question is the wrong forum please advise. Thanks

Re: add new destination in the SendTo menu

Gene,

Make sure that you've created a new shortcut to your Favorites folder ( pointing to %userprofile%\favorites) in the SendTo folder. If you did it correctly, then try creating a shortcut to Notepad.exe and see if it displays correctly?

I'm sorry I don't understand. Can you explain to a half-novice what I should

do.

Thanks Ramesh for taking the time.

Re: add new destination in the SendTo menu

I'm trying to determine if the problem is seen for a particular file type (.lnk) or for a particular item.

Try this:

Open the SendTo folder.

From the File menu, choose New - Shortcut

Type Notepad.exe

Click Next, and click Finish

Is "Notepad.exe" listed in teh Send To menu now?

Re: add new destination in the SendTo menu

Yes, it worked perfectly placing notpad in the SendTo folder AND the window

that opens when right clicking. So I deleted "favorites" from the SendTo

folder and entered it again as you designated below. Now favorites is in the

folder AND the window when right clicking.

I don't know what I did wrong originally but it is fixed.

Thank you very much Ramesh!!
