Updates and SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

There are some updates that are not installing to my computer, they either download but fail to install or don't download at all. I am running Windows 8 x64 and I'm getting an error SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION that forces my computer to restart but the problem

is not fixed. However, there are no files in the C:WindowsMinidump directory to upload so you can check it for me. What can I do?

 Also, there aren't any updates available for my sound card therefore my speakers and headphones are separated hence I have to switch them manually, any suggestions?
