Failed updates

I have Windows 7. All updates from 20 June 2010 were installed until 27 April2012. Since then most updates have failed to install except:

 Software Malicious removal Tool.

The first one to fail was:

Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.125.655.0)

Installation date: ‎27/‎04/‎2012 10:34

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 1

Update type: Important

Install this update to revise the definition files used to detect spyware and other potentially unwanted software. Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed.
