I can't download MSE for windows XP. Is there a probem with the microsoft site or has support for X

Someone installed avast security software on my laptop and now that the free trial is up its running horribly hanging all the time.  Trying to install MSE but the microsoft site seems to be having a problem.  I uninstalled avast.  Does anyone else have experience

with this software?
