I recently bought a new laptop which came pre-loaded with Win 7 Home. I immediately upgraded ti Win 8 Professional and have had nothing but trouble ever since!

 

The main source of the problem seems to be this one Windows security upgrade which fails to install time and time again. The details are:

 

Upgrade - kb2753842

Error code - 80073712

 

I rang my laptop supplier who put me on to Samsung and they advised a complete system restore, followed by re-loading Win 8 (and I presume Office as well). I'm loathe to go down that route and wondered if anyone can tell me what to do?

 

I've tried manually installing the upgrade from Control Panel but that doesn't work either.
