running windows 7 64 bit ultimate service pack 1

tried the repair thing from the help tried almost everything windows update just wont work and I uninstalled security essentials this is not just on my machine its on my wife's laptop same 64 bit ultimate this all happened after a windows update on the Feb.

14th 2013 that was the last day security essentials updated then the error. I am not a newbie and I feel this is a virus or a malware that is targeting windows 7 scanned with malwarebytes and nothing came up did the scan in safe mode with networking. One thing

i did notice in the task manager windows error reporting service has been popping on and off like a virus would tried to disable it and it does change anything so any help would be great.
