These are the steps that I follow:

I follow the Custom Installation (and I have also tried the Express installation with the same results) and click on INSTALL.

I watch the install as follows:

Initializing installation... done!

Installing Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (KB2792100) (update 1 of 1)...

The overall progress gets about half way across and if fails with a COPY ERROR box that says:

"An error occurred while copying file ieuinit.inf.

Cannot copy file to destination directory.

Click Retry to retry the operation or click Cancel"

Clicking retry just brings the COPY ERROR box back immediately so I choose CANCEL.

Then I get displayed "Do you want to continue Setup without copying this file YES or NO"

I have tried both options and I always get:

"Some updates could not be installed. The following updates were not installed:

Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (KB2792100)"

This looks to have been failing since the first week of Feb 2013.

I woudl be grateful for any suggestions or help please as I have run out of ideas...
