a necessary componant of windows media did not start please restart windows media

When I try to play "my favorites" in Windows Media I always get the box that says that I haven't set it up yet and would I like to, so I go through picking the options I want pick save then I get the error mssg that says "a necessary component of windows

media did not load please close and restart media center" . When I tried to find out what component was missing I got the mssg that"Windows Media center is not available for this version of Windows" Whats up with all this?
