I had been having a lot of problems with Windows Update in Vista, so I performed a fresh install this morning, but I'm still seeing the same problems.  Here's exactly what I've done so far:

  1. Wiped the hard drive (filled it with zeroes).
  2. Installed Windows Vista SP1 from scratch.
  3. Installed video, audio, and network drivers from my PC manufacturer.
  4. Tried to run Windows Update.

After clicking "Check for updates" and waiting a few moments, this error appears:

"Windows could not search for new updates"

Also, the error code 8024402F is displayed.  I've tried a lot of the suggestions that I've found in these forums, but nothing has worked.  Please help!
