after this last update I have lost my icons on my desktop, my favorites in IE8, and my bookmarks in Chrome  is this supposed to happen and like what should I do to set things back to normal??? would a system restore set things back then I would have to

update again and do this all over again???? 

OMFreakin god I have lost all my videos, pictures, everything what the heck is going on????? this update erased everything I have had on here for years!!!!!!!!!!
