Why won't Windows Vista service pack 2 32bit won't download or install (KB2799494) or any other micr

This download has been appearing for 2 weeks for installation and I download it.  It NEVER installs and within 15 minutes, the microsoft update icon in bottom right corner shows up and AGAIN wants me to download the same Security Update [KB2799494].  I have

tried everything to fix this according to forums, including microsoft. 

 

The STRANGEST part of this is that when I click to "view installed updates", NOTHING APPEARS. 

 

 

So, I am stuck and I hope someone  can help me.  If anyone needs any further computer information, please be specific and hopefully we can get me through this:) 

 

 

Windows Vista Service Pack 2 [32bit] - I am using Internet 9.
