Driver Updates already when I just purchased and installed Windows 8 and all I need is to open an em

I received an email with an attachment. When I attempted to download it, I got a message that I needed to install a Certificate in order to open the email.  Because I know who the email came from, it is secure.  When I tried to download the certificate,

it sent me to DriverUpdate in which they asked me to pay circa $30.00 for. It stated I needed 17 updates which I can't believe.   I just purchased Windows 8, why do I need to purchase driver updates?
