How do I create a subfolder on windows 8 start screen, I can't find how to anywhere?

Really need this as just keep getting this weird unorganised 'list' of those (presumably designed for 6 yr olds requiring primary colours and shapes to help identify things) square boxes that just go on for ever to the right and left. I have to scroll loads

to find the program I want. It would be much easier just to double click into a folder I have created that holds my apps in a usefully organised way (Dev tools, Media tools, MS crapware etc).

Double click on subfolder | See icon for app I want | Double click it. | Use program  is much preferable to all this scrolling left and right looking for the app I thought I'd seen somewhere (they seem to move around in between the times I use the 'Start'

screen - very confusing and VERY annoying!! I'll arrange my own screen layout as like it thanks, not how some person I've never met thinks I should have it - who are you people? Apple?)

Anyway, how do I create subfolders please.
