Microsoft word 2007 problem after update KB2670838

The windows 7 update KB2670838 caused microsoft word 2007 to crash. I uninstalled the update again, but I still face the problem. I'm not sure if it got properly uninstalled. The update is still listed in the 'view update history' as status 'successful'.

However, its not listed anymore if I go to 'uninstall updates'. I also tried if installing the update manually makes a difference, but no success. Because I realized the problem not right away I can also not to a system recovery anymore. Also, the last system

image is quite old already.     I must admit that windows really annoys me!!! I've been reading about the problems with the KB2670838 in many forums. Such updates should not be released. Stories like this are the reason why I've got Linux running on my other computers.

Any ideas how to solve the problem?ThanksI'm running windows 7 professional (32-bit) on a hp6730b
