PROBLEM WITH WINDOWS UPDATE

I upgraded my system from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro two days back. Since the time I installed it, I am facing problem with Windows Updates. I am getting an error message " "Windows could not search for new updates. There was a problem checking for updates.

Error(s) found: Code 8024401C Windows update ran into a problem."  Please help me with this.  I am feeling that Win 8 Pro is working bad with respect to update downloading.Lot of time was wasted in this. Feeling like downgrading to Win 7
