I am not able to edit a Microsoft Surface Collage once saved.

I am using a VAIO VPCJ1 multi touch screen and Microsoft Surface Collage software that came preinstalled on pc but there are no instructions.  The problem I have is that after moving images from the gallery (which are shown at the bottom of the screen) into

the collage in order to exit the screen I would save (click icon bottom right hand side) the file would then save as a j.peg.

 

If I then want to amend or add to the collage the software does not allow this to happen as it is save as a j.peg, Question is how do you save a collage which then allows changes?
