i bought an acer pc windows 8 which had mcafay security free trial.  the trial is about to end and i want to use windows defender but when i try to open it from search it says it is turned off and i need to go to the action centre.  what is action centre?

 If i just uninstall mcafay will windows defender automatically start up   help please i have no idea what i am doing!  and i seem to have some malware.......
