How to go from Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit to 64 bit version

I recently upgraded to an Intel D975XBX2 motherboard and Intel 965EE processor.  My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, 32 bit version.   I purchased it almost 2 years ago and it came with both 32 and 64 bit versions.   I understand the Intel D975XBX2 motherboard

and 965EE processor will operate the 64 bit Windows & software.

Is there an advantage to the 64 bit version and what steps must I take to switch it from 32 bit to 64?
