windows 8 profile seems to have reset to an earlier time

I am using windows 8 pro on a Lenovo twist. After I updated the pc, (online updates) I logged in only to discover that some of my icons are missing from the desktop. I then realised that my apps like word 2013 thinks that it is the first time I am running

it. Please can anyone assist.

 

I also have a domain a account that I use, but the profile I am talking about is the live.com account. I have in the past link the two together.
