Windows 8 updates freezes when checking for updates, how can I solve it?

Greetings,Windows updates hangs up for awhile while checking for updates. What I mean is that the green bar suddenly stops and it can pass many minutes before it actually goes back to checking for updates, then freezes again.I don't know what can I do.
