Windows 8 Won't Shutdown, Restart, or Sign Off

Hi all,

I have run into a highly annoying issue. Windows 8 hangs on shutdown, restart, or sign off. This just started occurring. If I shutdown from the login screen it works, but once in the system, it fails. I can restart from a command line, but I need to

be able to shutdown normally. No new programs have been installed.
