Guest Sirius Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Hello, I have a USB Rio S 30s mp3 player. I have not put new songs in it for a while. So now's the time. The problem is, I would like to use it with the new computer like I did with the old one. They are both windows xp. It's supposed to show up in window explorer as a storage device, but it's not. All drivers are up to date. The computer sees it in device manager under usb devices. When you plug it in, you get the "what do you want windows to do" window, with the only option "take no action". It does work with the old computer and you get several options. I think it's some kind of a problem with windows settings but I can't figure out what. I called rio, but they will not help because it's out of warranty. I hope it's the right place to post, and any clue would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is that same drive letter used by another device within the new computer? You may have configure your Rio drivers to point it to a different drive letter (or check Disk Management)?
Guest Sirius Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Re: Mp3 player trouble No, there is no drive letter was needed with the old pc. When plugged in, it opens two folders with a boxy looking icon -not like the hard drive icon. They read: Rio S30 Internal Memory Rio S30 MultiMediaCard (MMC) A right click will bring up only a short menu: Expand-grayed out Open Explore Format... No properties, and nothing in Computer management. Again, this is in the old pc. But there is no way to assign a letter. And no need.
