do I need anti spyware if I have microsoft security essentials?

Hi:Many people recommend installing anti spyware software (like Lavasoft) in addition to antivirus.However sometimes it is not possible due to incompatibilities.This is the case of Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows defender or certain versions of Lavasoft Adaware.So will MSE protect of malware like adware, keyloggers, spyware and so, or should I choose another software couple?Thanks in advance!
