Update KB2789642 will not install

Update KB2789642 will not install after repeated automatic (and manual) attempts.  The error code received is 00000643, but I can't find any information about this error code specifically.  Running Windows 7.  Problem is only on my desktop.  Have a laptop

with same platform and the update installed just fine on it.  I performed a registry clean-up shortly before this update was released, but don't know if this has anything to do with the problem.  An understandable fix for a non-geek guy would be appreciated.
