I cannot download anything to my laptop, it fails, with a message saying virus detected.

I did have AVG free on my laptop, but after I tried system restore to try and take it back to last week, AVG stopped working. Itunes has also stopped working and is asking to reinstall files. I have tried system restore several times and it seems to be

making the problem worse every time. I have tried downloading several virus removal products in safe mode as well, and turning all the security settings down to low and off, but it is not making any difference. Any help please?
