I am trying to run an update to Microsoft Security Essentials software from Version 4.1.522.0 to 4.2.223.1.

The update is KB2804527.

When the update fails I get error code 0x8007005.

The computer is virus free.

The definitions are updated OK, just not the MSE software.

Also have tried to uninstall the software but that fails also.

Have also encountered error codes 0x8024200B and 0x8004FF80 while attempting the update at different times.

Am running Windows 7 Home Premium, SP 1on a 64 operating system

.
