Windows Update Stopped my wireless adapter working!

I have a D-link DWA-160 installed on my Desktop and everything was working fine until this morning when Windows installed a critical update. now my Wireless adapter does not work and the software wont open...i have uninstalled and re-installed it I then

tried to perform a system restore from a point previous to the Windows Update but got a message saying that the system restore was not successful. I don't know what to do to get it working again...please help!
