I received a call from a man claiming to be calling from Microsoft Security, saying that my computer was spreading malicious files around the internet. I told him that I didn't understand what he was talking about, so he asked me to start up my computer

so that he could show me. I explained that I wasn't at home, and he offered to call back in two hours.

I told the man that my computer wasn't giving me any problems or error message, and after he asked me what kind of computer I had (which I told him HP) he told me that he was calling from HP support.

I feel wary about giving the man any information or even taking his call (if he's bold enough to call back, I think he could tell I was skeptic).

I don't use my computer for any downloading or file sharing, and I have antivirus software - so it's likely this is just a scam right?
