Can Micrtosoft Software Distribution Service 3.0 automatically download & install if I don't use Mic

Running XP pro with SP3 on 10 year old Dell Dimension 4500.  I do NOT use MSE.  I use AVG malware protection.  I allow Microsoft updates to download automatically but I choose when to install.  On 3/13/13 I noticed my PC had set a new restore

point called "Software Distribution Service 3.0". Checking Windows Update I found 8 legitimate appearing updates on 3/13 but I knowingly did not take any action to install them.  Do I have malware?  If yes, how do I recover?

 

The updates were:

KB2807986 for One Note

KB2687505 for Visio Viewer

KB890830 for Malicious...

KB982726 for Office 2010

KB2767886 also for Office 2010

KB2809289 for IE 8

KB2814124 for Silverlight

KB2553501 for Filter Pack 2.0
