Hi forum,

I am desparately trying to rid my computer of some malware that refuses to leave.  I tried working through some tips in this forum, particularly some advice posted by Tech-Geek.

I am running Windows XP pro with SP3.  I believe it to be up to date.

Here is what I have tried so far:

1) I downloaded TDSSkiller from Kaspersky.  It found like 25 threats, so I deleted all of those and rebooted the computer.

2) TDSSkiller prompted for re-launch upon computer power-up, which I selected and did a re-scan which came out clean

3) I next downloaded and installed malwarebytes and updated the virus definition files

4) I ran malwarebytes and it found around 16 threats.  These I quarantined and then deleted.

5) I attempted to reboot the computer but it seemed to hang, so I did a hard shutdown (power button for 5 seconds)

6) I then restarted the computer, but it spontaneously shut down twice before completing the start-up cycle

7) On the third attempt to power up the computer restarted, and as it was restarting, I brought up the task manager, and there were two strange applications that appeared to be running.  One was "Mediostapedial couchancy prefilter" and the other name I didn't

quite get but it was something like "Hinayana something something".  These two applications disappeared from the task manager as the computer completed its boot up cycle.

8) I re-downloaded TDSSkiller and ran it again, and it now again found something like 25 threats, many of which looked similar to the initial 25.

9) I again deleted these, and TDSSkiller prompted for reboot, which I did.

10) TDSSkiller prompted for re-launch upon computer power-up, which I selected and did a re-scan which came out clean

11) I am now running malwarebytes again, but I fear I am going in circles.

Can anyone please provide any assistance?

Thanks in advance.
