widows update encountering error code 80070002 while checking for new updates,please help.

My laptop HP Pavilion g4 Notebook PC  is unable to install and check  for new windows updates, and encountering an unknown error code 80070002.So can you please help me? I have already tried microsoft support link several times but I have not received

any help so far.My laptop has windows 7 Home Basic 64bit service pack 1 ,operating system.
