how do i fix my host process not updating

I was gonig through nmy update log and noticed that there was a long list of failed updates for Host process. I have a gateway M series laptop,32Bit vista OS. I just got my update srevice working and it. I tried to check my event log ,but the snapin did

not work. I'm not very computer savvy, so i need something that a novice can do. thanks
