Moving windows 7 from one computer to another.

I installed and activated a new copy ot Windows 8 on a new computer I built for gaming, but W8 would not run some of the games.  The same games run well with windows 7.  Can I delete the Windows 8 installation and install windows 7 by 'swopping' it from

a 2nd computer on which I would then install the windows 8?  ie I have an activated windows 7 which I would remove from one computer and install on the new one.  Would this then be allowed to activate?  Thanks for your help.
