windows vista avi movie files created with fraps capture online no thumb nail view

have vista prem all service packs and up to date  years ago never had a problem even real old avi files allways showed thumb nail view but after reinstalling windows this year somthing  about media player 9  strange behavour  would play my videos but keep

playing in the back ground even after clicking it off upper right corner box  to dismiss media player that did not close it out this went on for long time this was the problem at first plus no thumb nails   now i have realplayer for playing  both music / videos  

divx player  just to play file types  for test some times  flash mp4 flash  no thumbs    realplayer  flash videos show thumb nails  but not mp4 flash videos          i do have a flash player it plays as many as i want to pull up and watch not a problem there. 

all the others players in windows vista   movie maker  media center  picture viewer  photo gallery  nero 7 player dont use much  it only likes mp4 videos  when burning videos to disc i noticed last time i did one   any way what mite  be wrong with my system

on thumb nail and avi file videos  in windows explorer  thanks   to who   may have some   smarts   to share.. will add this note some avi videos due show thumb nail view... just not my most resent ones in folder view as in fraps folder   media player  i added 

that folder it showed the thumbs nails there ok so thats working just fine ..
