windows 7 automatic updates wont run, error 8024800A.

I've searched the Microsoft site, but most of the suggestions are to alter the Registry which I do not like to do. Why does this error occur to begin with and can a System Restore to an earlier date solve this issue? The original reason I discovered this

error is because I attempted to send an e-mail using Yahoo Mail and it would not let me attach a photo to the e-mail.
