Windows Update does not show on start menu.

It can located in on the control panel dialog box, but it takes me to an HP Help & Support page which can't process the necessary Active X add ins. It will also attempt to open Windows update in Firefox. I copy and paste the URL into Internet Explorer

8. The response is that Internet Explorer 5 or grater must be used. I also can't locate Windows Update using the Run dialog box. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
