network problems after daily updates

i have set my computer to do daily updates at 3:00 a.m., it does not update until about 8:00 a.m. and then my wireless network goes out and after 20 minutes of troubleshooting, resetting, swearing, getting upset, it finally sets up - I believe it would

be to my best interest to refuse all updates unless these updates will not interfere with my settings. Can you please inform if there is a solution?
