When Windows Update is Performed I can no longer connect to the internet

For the past two weeks, every time my computer performs a Windows update, I have be unable to connect to my ISP. What I have done is go in and perform a "system restore".  Once performed, my computer is able to connect to the internet. However, when the

update is performed again, I am at the very same status, can't connect to the internet. Please help or assist in this matter. My ISP has gone as far as they can with this. What can be suggested? This seems like it will be a continous issue.
