Seth Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Both SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes detect and remove lop. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here If Free PC Help has helped you then please consider a donation. Click here
Rolling Stone Posted November 23, 2008 Author Posted November 23, 2008 Oh no they don't. Well not the derivative I had anyway. Ran both programs multiple times and while they detected the Adware trackers and removed them it all just came back. It was Comodo that identified the suspicious file which led me to the File Research Centre and taking the (admitted) risk with the use of the lop.com uninstaller Quote
Seth Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 The File Research Center is the same company as SuperAntiSpyware. The latest SAS definition update for lop was on Nov 11. Yes, it's possible you had a new variant, but there are many other possibilities: 1) Outdated core and trace files in the programs you used to try and remove lop. 2) Corrupt definition file download. 3) Spybot's Tea Timer (in your log), as well as Adaware and other antivirus programs which may interfere with malware removal. ...and a few other things as well. Anyway, glad it's gone. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here If Free PC Help has helped you then please consider a donation. Click here
Rolling Stone Posted November 23, 2008 Author Posted November 23, 2008 Perhaps but I had the latest versions of both and had disabled spybot teatimer as instructed Quote
